IBEX

The best time to spot animals up close is September. We were lucky to see it already in May … The permanent horns consist of a large bone scaffold, which makes it recognizable by other horned mammals. Growth stops every year in November and is highlighted with a ring. From the counting of these circles we go back to the number of winters passed and therefore to the age of the animal.

ARPY LAKE

The walk to Lake d’Arpy is very simple and therefore we think it is the first to start the season.

An hour with little slope to arrive in a basin where the lake allows a unique photo, with the Mont Blanc chain reflected in the body of water.

Lake d’Arpy is at 2066 meters above sea level, this allows everyone to hike.

COLLE SAN CARLO

Colle San Carlo is a very interesting passage both from a geographical and sporting point of view. First of all, it connects the central valley to La Thuile via Arpy (previous episode).

Go through a wonderful scenery and above all … a very hard stage for amateur and professional cyclists. In 2019 he once again saw the Giro d’Italia pass. As soon as the roads are clear of snow, the effect is unique …

SKYWAY

Have you already seen Mont Blanc? From very close?
With Skyway, the modern cable car that allows you to climb to the sky and enjoy a breathtaking view.
It is a unique experience and many do it again. Find a restaurant. Obviously we recommend booking the visit, to ensure the time of the climb and to know when the reopening will be.

TERME DI PRÉ

Warm waters that flow from the heart of the mountain. Thanks to the presence of iron, the thermal waters make the skin soft and facilitate circulation and muscle movements. Biosaunas, chalet saunas, saunas with mountain essences, each with different beneficial effects. Sensory pools, realx areas and breathtaking views complete a unique experience at the foot of Mont Blanc, near the Orrido di Pré-Saint-Didier and within the walls of the Ancient Casino. We hope to reopen soon, because they are unique.

Tickets are however extended for at least 120 days or 18 months if purchased online.

BONATTI REFUGE

The Bonatti refuge rises at 2025 above sea level, right in front of the Mont Blanc chain.

The structure is recent (1998) and who has been there ensures that on clear nights from the refuge it is possible to admire the moon reflected on the Mont Blanc glacier.

To reach the Bonatti refuge, you start from Entrèves, in Val Ferret, after Courmayeur.
It is right at the beginning of the Vallone di Malatrà and gives access to various itineraries, including the Tour Mont Blanc.

The name is dedicated to the alpinist and explorer Walter Bonatti who climbed many peaks of the Aosta valley.

VAL FERRET

Val Ferret is a valley surrounded by nature where you can practice different sports and long and peaceful walks.
It is one of the most spectacular valleys in the Aosta Valley and is 20km long. In summer it is the ideal place to see the Mont Blanc chain, go for walks and hikes, play golf or venture out on a mountain bike.

For the more experienced it is also the place of departure or passage for some high trail trails.
